Jaggery

Jaggery is a pure, natural, wholesome and unrefined sweetener or sugar. It is an important part of Indian cooking and culture. Rich in Magnesium, Potassium and Iron, Jaggery has all the vitamins and minerals that one can find in sugarcane juice. It is known as Gur or Gud in India (each region of India will have its own name) and Panela in Mexico and South America. Jaggery is also used as medicine in traditional Indian medicine for treating illnesses like cough, indigestion and constipation.
