🌿Celebrating World Vegetarian Day - Every Day! 🌿Celebrating World Vegetarian Day - Every Day! 🌿

While today is designated as World Vegetarian Day, for me, every day is a celebration of the vibrant, flavorful world of vegetarian cuisine! 🍅🥦🥬

I have an unwavering passion for capturing the essence of vegetable markets, where nature's artistry unfolds. 📸

On this special occasion, let's pause to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the tireless farmers and growers who nurture our plates with their bountiful harvests. 🌾🙏

Mother Nature herself bestows upon us a stunning array of vegetables, grains, legumes, fruits, and nuts - a true treasure trove for culinary creativity.

In the realm of Ayurveda, the Sattvic diet reigns supreme, emphasizing the wholesome goodness of vegetables, greens, fresh fruits, dry fruits, nuts, grains, and legumes. 🌱🍇🥜

Within these simple ingredients lies an infinite canvas of recipes waiting to be explored and savored. 🍽️🌟

You can find a variety of vegetarian recipes to suit many occasions and needs on my website divinetaste.com.

🌟 Embracing Festivals: A Delicious Tradition 🌟

Celebrating Radhashtami is a cherished affair for me, where I find sheer delight in donning a saree and preparing a special feast. 🌸

My Radhashtami 2023 Thali featured Radharani's beloved Arbi in a rich tomato masala, a vibrant cauliflower and pea subzi, soul-soothing dal panchmel, fragrant ghee rice, cooling cucumber raita, fluffy Puri, heavenly Shrikhand, and the sweetest of Gulab Jamuns. 🥣🥒

But let's talk about the age-old question - is fried food Sattvic? 🤔

You see, not all fried food is created equal. While packaged, preservative-laden fried snacks might not align with Sattvic principles, freshly prepared fried delights like laddus, Puris, chaklis, and the divine offerings at temples have a place in this ancient cooking tradition.

Temples have been offering only Sattvic food for centuries, and fried items like the famous Khaja Prasad from Jagannath Puri Temple and the beloved Tirupati laddoo from Tirupati amidst scores of other delights, have been cherished for generations. 🙏🏼🪷

So, during festivals, we savor the essence of tradition, including the joy of indulging in these delights - in moderation, of course. 🌈🥄

For me, cooking and sharing these moments with loved ones is the true essence of joy. How do you celebrate your special occasions? Share your traditions and thoughts below! 🌼💬

✨Arbi Masala Magic: A Tribute to Radhashtami 202 ✨Arbi Masala Magic: A Tribute to Radhashtami 2023 ✨

Radhashtami, a day devoted to celebrating the divine feminine energy, holds a special place in my heart. This year, I crafted a feast fit for the occasion - my Radhashtami 2023 Thali, a symphony of flavors and love. 🌸

On the platter:
Radharani’s favorite Arbi, bathed in a delicious tomato masala.
Cauliflower and pea subzi, bursting with freshness.
Dal Panchmel, a quintessential comfort.
Ghee rice, a fragrant delight.
Cooling cucumber raita.
Fluffy Puri.
Indulgent Shrikhand.
And the sweet finale, Gulab Jamun.

Cooking and sharing this feast with my loved ones is an immense source of joy in my life. 🍽️💕

👇 Arbi Masala Recipe 👇

Ingredients:

500 gm arbi, boiled and peeled
2 to 3 tbsp mustard or any other vegetable oil
1 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
2 tsp freshly grated ginger
6 to 7 tomatoes, puréed
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
4 tsp coriander seed powder
3 to 4 tbsp yogurt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt or to taste
2 tsp garam masala powder
Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:

Boil arbi until cooked. I pressure cooked it until 2 whistles. When it’s cool enough, peel the arbi. Use a little oil in your hands if arbi is too sticky. You can then stir fry, deep fry or roast the Arbi in the oven. I roasted the arbi in the oven at 200 C for 25 to 30 minutes after brushing it with some oil.
In a pan, add the oil and after the oil is hot, drop in the carom seeds. Then put in the asafoetida powder and ginger and stir for a few seconds until the ginger is fried.
Add the tomato purée and mix well. Put in all the dry spice powders, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander seed powder and bring to a boil. Add the yoghurt and cook until the oil separates from the tomatoes. Stir in the sugar.
Mix in the cooked and roasted arbi. Add the salt, garam masala powder and bring it to a boil.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, say a prayer, and relish it with delight.

In the sacred verses of the Bhagavad Gita, we find In the sacred verses of the Bhagavad Gita, we find a profound lesson in simplicity. Lord Krishna’s words in Chapter 9, Text 26 remind us that devotion matters most:

“patram puspam phalam toyam
yo me bhaktya prayacchati
tad aham bhakty-upahrtam
asnami prayatatmanah”

When we offer a leaf, a flower, fruit, or water with love, the Lord graciously accepts it. 🌱

Across the world, devotees shower the Lord with elaborate offerings, but today, on my first Janmashtami after relocating to Bangalore, I kept it simple yet heartfelt. I made laddu and butter, a token of love for the butter-loving Lord. We sang bhajans and my little niece P plucked a pink rose from the garden for the lord. 🍯🪔

Happy Janmashtami to all! Let’s remember that true devotion lies in the heart, and may peace, love, and dharma reign in our lives. 🙏🏼
