Embracing Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 with a Feast of He Embracing Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 with a Feast of Health and Flavor! 🌟

Incorporating tradition with a twist this year, my Ganesh Chaturthi Thali was a delightful fusion of heritage and well-being, specially crafted for my septuagenarian father and octogenarian father-in-law, both with unique health needs.

Despite Lord Ganesha's fondness for fried treats, I opted for wholesome choices to ensure a memorable meal for them. This seemingly simple spread was a symphony of flavors, offering comfort and joy to all who savored it. 🍲✨

Feast Highlights:

Harmonious blend of white and red rice 🍚
Rich and aromatic 'Huli' 🥘
Flavorful 'Beans Palya' 🥗
Steamed Modak for a guilt-free indulgence 🍡
Revitalizing Ginger Tambli 🫚
Exquisite Ajwain leaf (Indian borage) chutney 🌿
Refreshing Snake Gourd Sasve or Raita 🥒
Nutrient-packed Sorghum Millet Curd Rice (not pictured) 🍚🌾
You can find the recipes for this divine spread on my website at divinetaste.com.

Wishing everyone who celebrated a blessed festival filled with the removal of obstacles on your life's journey. 🙏✨

In the sacred verses of the Bhagavad Gita, we find In the sacred verses of the Bhagavad Gita, we find a profound lesson in simplicity. Lord Krishna’s words in Chapter 9, Text 26 remind us that devotion matters most:

“patram puspam phalam toyam
yo me bhaktya prayacchati
tad aham bhakty-upahrtam
asnami prayatatmanah”

When we offer a leaf, a flower, fruit, or water with love, the Lord graciously accepts it. 🌱

Across the world, devotees shower the Lord with elaborate offerings, but today, on my first Janmashtami after relocating to Bangalore, I kept it simple yet heartfelt. I made laddu and butter, a token of love for the butter-loving Lord. We sang bhajans and my little niece P plucked a pink rose from the garden for the lord. 🍯🪔

Happy Janmashtami to all! Let’s remember that true devotion lies in the heart, and may peace, love, and dharma reign in our lives. 🙏🏼

The joys of magical jackfruit are many and today I The joys of magical jackfruit are many and today I’m thrilled to share a family recipe for jackfruit idlis or Kadubu from the Malnad region (western ghats) of Karnataka where jackfruit trees grow abundantly in the fertile rich soil. They are made and loved by generations in the paternal side of my family. These idlis are aromatic, delicious and healthy because of all the wholesome ingredients in them. Make them before jackfruits are out of season.

Jackfruit Kadubu or Idli recipe:

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups rava or semolina
1 1/2 cups ripe jackfruit, deseeded
3/4 cup jaggery (use 1 cup if jackfruit is not very sweet or if you want sweeter idlis)
3/4 cup coconut, grated
4 cardamom pods, shelled and powdered

Method:

1. Roast the rava until lightly golden brown, about 5 to 6 minutes and set aside to cool.
2. In a blender, put in the jackfruit, jaggery and coconut and blend to a smooth paste.
3. Rinse the rava, drain completely and mix in the jackfruit batter.
4. Add cardamom powder and mix again.
5. Ladle the batter into greased idli molds.
6. Steam the idlis or kadubus for 10 minutes in a pre heated idli cooker. Allow to rest for 8 to 10 minutes more before taking off the lid.

Transfer the idlis to a plate, add a dollop of ghee, say a prayer and relish it with delight!

Makes 12 to 14 idlis

"Embracing the unexpected: a kaleidoscope of color "Embracing the unexpected: a kaleidoscope of colors-literally and figuratively!” 🌈

Last year for Diwali, the mothership surprised me with a gift that unveiled a whole new world of colors in this handwoven Pochampally saree. From the breathtaking parrot green to the captivating navy blue and rich wine hues, this saree is a celebration of hues that I never thought I'd embrace. Recently, I adorned this magnificent saree for a wedding in Bangalore and relished a delectable wedding feast served on a traditional banana leaf. Don't miss out on the mouthwatering snapshot - swipe left for a glimpse of the festive lunch!
I believe balance is the key to many things in lif I believe balance is the key to many things in life. I also believe that a home made treat made with love adds a special touch to any birthday or celebration.

Melting moments are perfect eggless cookies and they have been a monumental part of all the birthday parties I have hosted. I fondly remember making every single digit birthday party of my son special with melting moments numbers corresponding to his age, although he loves them more now than he did then.

These cookies have been very popular on my website and my show on @rajshrifood. I have made them with plain flour, whole wheat flour, gluten free millet flours with great results.

These cookies have just flour, sugar, butter and a flavouring agent. With no chemicals in it, they are good for kids in moderation.

I recently made these cookies for my niece S’s birthday party and it was a joy and a pleasure to watch my niece relish her first cookie! Seeing the kids enjoy it made me fall in love with baking again!

Find the recipe for these stupendous cookies on my site https://www.divinetaste.com/melting-momentsperfect-eggless-cookies/
