There are so many aspects and layers to us as huma There are so many aspects and layers to us as human beings, and true wellness and balance can be achieved when we focus on 3 important aspects of ourselves- body, mind and soul. Ancient healing and wisdom traditions have long acknowledged this fact which is also now being recognised by modern science.

Sharing 3 tips to make 2023 magical by bringing the focus into your body, mind and soul. These simple steps have worked for me, and I’m sure they will also work for you.

Though this is simple, it may not be easy at times. I’m a work in progress myself, and when I find any of this challenging, I pick up from where I left off instead of giving it up altogether. Doing this works like magic and helps me navigate through my journey of life and live with intention and purpose.

Wishing whoever is reading this a very happy new year! May your life be filled with health, happiness, peace and purpose! 🤍

The humble spices in our kitchen have immense medi The humble spices in our kitchen have immense medicinal and healing properties! It’s time to give them their due recognition! Fennel seeds are well known for their excellent digestive power and are good for gas, bloating, acidity and other concerns relating to the digestive tract. They have antioxidant properties that are great for skin and hair. And apart from many other benefits, also help in weight management and detoxification.

Make this simple tea and have it at least for 7 days to experience their miraculous benefits. The best time to have this tea is during the Vata period of the day which happens to be between 2 pm to 6 pm. Make sure you sip on the water and chew the seeds! 🤍

Instagram is full of recipe ideas to make for the Instagram is full of recipe ideas to make for the festive season. If you haven’t made anything yet and want to make something special and quick for your loved ones, take a look at pineapple sheera!

I love a well made pineapple sheera, and a big shot out to my dear sil @hegdevinutha who makes awesome pineapple sheera!

Find the detailed recipe for this exquisite treat, full of pineapple flavour here:

Pineapple Sheera

Ingredients:

1 cup organic cane sugar (raw sugar)
3 cups water
1/4 tsp saffron
1/2 cup ghee
1 cup fine semolina (Bombay rava not chiroti rava)
1 cup pineapple, chopped into cubes
1/2 tsp cardamom powder

Method:

1. Mix the sugar with the water, add the saffron and heat on moderately low heat.
2. In a pan heat the ghee and after the ghee melts, add the semolina and roast on low heat for 4 to 5 minutes, until the raw smell disappears.
3. Add the pineapple pieces into the pan and roast on low heat until the semolina is golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes.
4. Pour the sugar syrup into the pan and allow the semolina to absorb all the water.
5. Stir in the cardamom powder, mix well and cook for a couple of minutes more and turn off the heat.
6. Say your prayers and enjoy!
In lieu of the classic British humour and the high In lieu of the classic British humour and the highlight lettuce has got in the media lately, I had the chance to share all about lettuce with @middayindia in today’s edition.

Lettuce grows very well in the cooler parts of the year and we get the freshest produce in the winter. Though India is the 3rd largest producer of lettuce in the world, lettuce is yet to find mainstream acceptance in India. It is rarely used in traditional Indian cuisine.

Using lettuce in a salad is a no brainer but I also love to use lettuce in roasted and grilled vegetables. I do this by adding roughly chopped lettuce when the vegetables are half done. This ensures that the lettuce is not charred and roasted to perfection. Lettuce is high in minerals like calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and potassium and it’s nice to include it in your diet at times!

Find the recipe for a family favourite Greek Salad in today’s mid day or on my website by doing a search for divine taste Greek salad.
There is something pristine about cooking, serving There is something pristine about cooking, serving and sharing food with love. Yesterday I was fortunate to share my table filled with regional north Karnataka fare, with one of the sweetest souls I know. And the thing about Indian regional cooking is that there are so many hidden aspects to it, one that has been passed on through generations from hundreds of years. So much to learn and so much to explore. It is one of the most fortunate experiences to be able to experience it and share it! @emilyshahofficial

The menu: Saaru (hot and spicy rasam) which was perfect for the weather, Ridge Gourd Ennegai (recipe similar to eggplant ennegai on divine taste), ridge gourd peel chutney, red black eyed pea curry, Kosambri salad, Jhunka Vadi (recipe on divine taste) and one of my popular recipes-peanut laddu (recipe on divine taste).

There are few things in life that can comfort and There are few things in life that can comfort and satiate me as much as Hurnada Holige or Puran Poli. In the maternal side of my family, whenever hurnada holige is made, Kattina Saaru which is Saaru or Rasam made with the broth obtained from cooking channa dal, freshly ground spices and a little hurna (puran) is always made as an accompaniment. It is spicy from the pepper in a nice way, slightly sweet and tangy and is one of the most delectable food that I have ever put in my mouth! Infact, the whole process of festive cooking is special when it stems from being an act of love. Kept the rest of the dishes relatively simple with a Kosambri (raw lentil salad) and beans palya.

Hope all those celebrating had a great meal as well! Happy Vijaya Dashami to all of you. May the good always triumph over the evil. 🙏🏼
Today is Ayudh Pooja! It is a day on which we wors Today is Ayudh Pooja! It is a day on which we worship our instruments and equipment of work to execute our dharma or what one might call duty or calling in life. I love the sentiments behind this festival where we get to express gratitude for the many things that have been bestowed on us by the divine.

As I did my Pooja today, I expressed gratitude for all my beloved instruments of work without which I could not get by even for a single day.

Although I’m not wearing a saree today as much as I would have liked to pick one from the pile waiting to be worn, I’m sharing a picture taken on this very day in 2019, in my parents workplace where ayudh pooja is celebrated with great fanfare. Although these festivals were such an integral part of my childhood with them, I was fortunate to be a part of this Pooja now that I’m away. I still remember the fragrance of my mother’s banana sheera wafting through the air made for all the people who work for them. Also I love October skies and the sky here is so beautiful! So many things about this picture are special to me…
Janmashtami and Nandotsav are my most important an Janmashtami and Nandotsav are my most important and favourite festivals of the year. It may be fine with me if I don’t get to celebrate any other festival, but I will not compromise for these two days. They are filled with fasting, cooking, decorating my temple at home with fresh flowers of different varieties, feasting, meditation and deep reflection. It is a ritual for me to make Gulab Jamun, Kheer, Puri, Rasewala Aloo, Panchphoranwala Baigan and Ghee rice on Nandotsav. This is my most basic menu. On a good day, I like to add five different types of laddus, cakes, cookies and savoury preparations too.

Although this time it was a basic, low-key celebration, my heart is full, and I’m grateful for this day!
